Qwik Fit Cab Kit Testimonial

We were thrilled today to receive an awesome testimonial from David Meyer about his experience with a Qwik Fit cab kit.

“I purchased a Qwik Fit interior from Tractor Interior Upholstery. I bought the lower kit and post set for a John Deere 4450. I have used the spray glue adhesive type kit before. The Qwik Fit was a piece of cake compared to the spray adhesive type kit. It was easy to put in and looked great. It went so good I have ordered Qwik Fit interiors for my John Deere 4755 and John Deere 4955. The people at Tractor Interiors Upholstery are friendly, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Tractor Interiors Upholstery for your cab interior parts.”

Do I need to remove my seat to install a cab kit?

install a cab kit

You may wonder if you need to remove your tractor seat in order to install a cab kit.

The truth is that some seats need to come out to do the job.

But take our word for it, it is always better to remove the seat if it is easy.

Benefits of removing the seat.

If you take the time to remove the seat you end up saving yourself a lot of headaches.

You will have more room to maneuver around in the cab, and it will be much easier to dry fit and install a cab kit.

Even removing your old interior and cleaning your cab is easier with the seat removed. So if removing your seat is at all possible, we highly recommend it.

What about seats with hydraulics or suspension?

If you don’t have to remove suspension and hydraulics on heavier models that is often best. Actually, our installers use a 2×4 for holding up chair in John Deere hydraulic models.

Simply raise the seat, place the 2×4 underneath it, then power off the machine and you’ll raise the seat high enough to get your new tractor cab kit interior installed.

Trust us!

That tip alone could save you lots of headaches. Of course, use at your own risk as “your mileage may vary”.

Seat? Who Cares About a Seat?

If you are using our QWIK FIT kit plastic backed parts you will definitely not need to remove a seat in order to install your new tractor interior.

QWIK FIT kits are premade to snap right into place so you will not struggle wrestling them into place. And since you do not have to mess with any glue, you will not risk getting any on your seat.

3 Steps to a Clean Tractor Cab Before a Cab Kit Installation

cab kit installation

How do I get the old stuff out? How clean do I have to get my cab?

This is a popular question we get when people consider doing a cab kit installation.

The clean up and getting ready is usually worse than the installation…no other way to say it, it’s a dirty and crappy job. It stinks, no way around it.

Step 1. Tear out the old interior.

Cut, rip, tear…whatever it takes. Don’t be afraid to get in there and rip stuff out. Don’t be foolish, however. Watch out for wires and other attached parts.

Step 2. Eliminate all loose material.

Eliminate all the loose material, grease, etc. Just get down to a clean dry surface. Perfectly clean down to the bare metal is not necessary. You can install your new cab kit interior over the old adhesive as long as there are not clumps.

Step 3. Vacuum it out.

For best results vacuum, blow out cracks, then vacuum again.

This is where it really gets dusty. But it’s also the difference in having a cab kit that is installed correctly or one that you hate every time you jump in the cab. Wrinkles and loose upholstery are not only an eyesore, they are unnecessary.

Taking the time to appropriately clean your tractor cab will ensure your cab kit installation goes perfect.

Some clarifications:

In the video it was said that the dad was putting adhesive on the back of the tractor interior parts. It is actually silicone caulk rather than the typical cans of spray adhesive.

We think that once you try these adhesive free, re-positionable tractor cab kits you’ll wonder how you ever installed them the old way.
